Anonymous -- if I had 3...Thanks for understanding!

Anonymous -- if I had 3 yards, here's what I would do. First, hope it's 42" wide instead of 40" because then you could get an extra sashing strip out of it and need less fabric. If that is the case, you can make the first border the same size as your sashing instead of a little larger and it will work just fine!

The other option is to cut the sashing a little narrower so you could have that narrow sashed border. Then add one or two other borders. I wouldn't just not have that first border at all. It needs something there.

A third option would be to introduce a new background fabric. Then you have two background fabrics. If you got a yard of that, you would even be able to use both of them in the quilt layout - and it would look good. If you go this route, make the end background similar in value (both equally light or dark).

The fourth option is to do something totally different. At the end, you will see a lot of different settings for these blocks. I love to see what everyone comes up with. That being said, I did come up with a fun layout that I am excited to try.

Hope that helps!Moose on the Porch Quiltshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02389747786298271141noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2457124200752924157.post-4619660229592410072011-10-07T09:11:07.928-06:002011-10-07T09:11:07.928-06:00No worries from my end. The neighborho...Thanks for doing the quilt a long. The neighborhood quilt store closed in July, so this is quite a bit of fun to do. No problem with the correction, I can adapt and just love the first block and waiting eagerly for the next one. Quick question though. I purchased 3 yards of the background/sashing fabric, from the now closed out quilt store, so I am not sure if I can find the exact match. Any hints on where another fabric would work? (I was thinking that I would introduce the new fabric for the border, and just work with my 3 yards for block backgrounds and sashings. I think that others may be in the same boat as me.
Also, thanks for the tutorials on Flickr. I just set up my account, and have really enjoyed looking a everyone elses blocks. Our group is great, and I received some great comments.
Finally, thanks for the draws.
