A Couple Updates

As I was sitting down to write this post, I almost forgot what I was doing because I got side tracked looking at the fun quilts in our flickr group! 

Tomorrow is the last day to post a finished quilt on flickr!

At least to get in the drawing.  I have THREE layer cakes waiting to see where their new home will be!

In non-quilting news, I though I should give an update on my half-marathon.  My sister took this picture for me.  This is what the morning looked like:


Fortunately, it just got better from there, and it was actually a nice day to be out running.  A little cool, but no wind -- that's a good thing.  I use to think people who ran half-marathons were crazy.  Now I know they are!  I did just exactly as I expected I would.  I, of course, was hoping for better, but oh well.  That was one of the hardest things I have ever done.  My sister-in-law who ran it with me was almost half an hour ahead of me!  She is already trying to talk me into another one.  I'm not so sure.

Then, in other quilting news, the Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks Blog Tour has started.


I will have a post up on Wednesday.  They are giving away a bunch of stuff if you are interested!

  1. I can't believe you ran a half marathon! Congrats for doing that in that weather! Brrr!

  2. Congrats on the half-marathon! Back in January, I set a goal to run one as well. THat was before I took my first step on the treadmill...

    I thought about running the one you did- it would have been really cool to see all the flowers, etc but then it snowed, right? I ended up signing up for the Utah Valley half, which starts just down the road from me. It is in June, and so far, I haven't ran more than 5 miles in training (and that happened only once). My norm is about 3 miles in 40 minutes, on a treadmill. Because it is so icy up here that I haven't been able to run outside much. I'm going to DIE when I have to run 13 miles. Why do we do crazy things like this to ourselves, thinking that having 4 kids won't make a difference on our bodies if we suddenly up and decide to run halfway across town??

  3. Kim, Machelle and her daughter are doing that one. This wonderful spring we have had makes it difficult to train. And getting older makes it take longer to get in shape. Good luck!

  4. go ahead and run another - pace yourself the three months before and train train train, you can do it....

    We have a new Thanksgiving tradition here..... run the turkey trot and THEN do food....
