It's the LAST day of the blog tour! Thanks for coming along to meet Simply Charming Minis!
Today is the day to visit:
and
Oh! I guess you are here already!
I scheduled myself for the last day so I could see which pictures you hadn't seen. But you've seen them all! Well -- you will after you visit the Quilting Gallery anyway!
I will tell you one story about making this book. Before writing this book, I have never tried to make a mini quilt. I have relatively large hands that aren't too dextrious. I thought for sure that my hands would be too big and clumsy to make a mini quilt. BUT mini blocks started soming back with Dear Jane and the Farmer's Wife, etc. Frankly, they intimidated me. I asked myself if I wanted to make some mini blocks, how would I do it? I started designing. I designed mini quilts because I didn't want it to take me two years - or a lifetime - to finish! Then I tried making one of the quilts I designed. It was so fun! I was done making it before I had a chance to think twice about my decision!
With some of the quilts, I used different techniques than I would a larger block. It made working with the small blocks easier. I still had the question - what would I do with all of these quilts! I answered this question in two ways. One, I would learn. That is why I asked the ladies on the blog tour to tell you what they do with mini quilts. My second answer was my fall back position if I didn't end up learning a thing - which, of course, isn't the case - is I owuld use them for doll quilts. I have six kids. Chances are I will have grandkids. If nothing else works out, I will have a doll quilt for every grandchild!
I have the perfect spot over my sewing machine that needs a mini quilt right away! Now to decide which one!!!
Remember everyone's giving away a copy of the book and some of them still have the drawing open. Be sure to stop by them all!

I like to have them in my sewing room or give them to my GD for a doll quilt. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI do so enjoy your blog. I like to hang up the mini quilts or give them away.
ReplyDeleteHELLO! LOVE THESE 'MINI'S"!
ReplyDeleteI LIKE HANGING THEM IN MY SEWING AREA. THANK YOU FOR A CHANCE TO WIN!
msstitcher1948@yahoo.com
I just started my very first mini (my deadline is just after you start the quiltalong). I plan to have this one be the first of many, perhaps to have a special hanging spot in my kitchen.
ReplyDeleteI like to hand them on my door. I have a metal door and I hang them with magnetic clips. Works great. I sure hope I win a copy of this book. It looks right up my alley.
ReplyDeleteI love using mini-quilts as seasonal table toppers. They add beauty and variety not only to my kitchen table but also to my mantle and piano.
ReplyDeleteDoll quilts are a good use for mini quilts. Another possibility which I haven't done yet but am considering is to donate them. AAQI, which raises money to fight Alzheimer's disease, is one worthwhile place to donate, but I'm sure there are other equally good causes.
ReplyDeleteI like to practice or try something new - and "mini" means more likely a finish instead of a UFO!
ReplyDeleteI have been following the book tour and their are some great patterns in the book. thanks for a chance to win a copy.
ReplyDeleteI like minis for my new table topper quilt stand. I also like to hang them on a wall in my studio.

I have disabilities with my hand but have heard your techniques made mini quilt doable. I have only made one mini quilt at the birth of my best friends 1st grandchild. Thank you for having this blog hop.
ReplyDeleteYes you are quite right. We have seem them all, thanks to the Quilting Gallery. So, I like the Rosebud Bouquet, Morse Code and Crisscross Applesauce. These will either on my wall or maybe for Christmas presents. Thank you so much for the Book Tour, your hard work and for giving us all, your followers, a chane to win such a fantastic and special book.

In all honesty, I've never made a mini quilt but am very much hoping to do so. I have a long hallway in my home leading from our kitchen toward the bedrooms and bathroom. On both sides of the hallway are family pictures and while the pictures are great to look at, they are also not too stimulating color wise. I am hoping to be able to make mini quilts to put along those walls between family pictures to give more color to the walls. Your book has a lot of great looking mini quilts that I'd love to try. Congratulations on the book again. It looks great!
ReplyDeleteI like hanging mini quilts on the wall. I also bought one of those tabletop quilt stands that I want to give as a gift with a collection of mini quilts. I need to get busy making them!
ReplyDeleteOh thank you for the chance to win - and especially thank you for putting this book together. I'm addicted to minis. My mother lives with me and the two of us both love the immediate (almost) satisfaction of a mini. We have a wall in our house where we hang them and switch them out whenever the mood strikes us. Fun! They make sweet little tabletoppers too!

ReplyDeleteI was inspired by the pictures of minis hung on walls for decorations. It is a neat idea. Thanks for the tour and opportunity to win a book.
ReplyDeleteI've never made a mini quilt, but I think they would look nice framed hanging on the wall
ReplyDeletePractice free motion quilting, above the door adornments, pot holders, mug rugs, mini dresser scarf, under the clock, and as gifts are what I love to do with minis.
ReplyDeleteI love making mini quilts as they are aso much easier to committment to than a full size quilt which means they get finished & I learned a new pattern. What I love to do with my minis is to use them as gifties. Especially when someone just needs a "thinking of you" they make for nice pick-me-up's suring a rough time.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win this great book.
Sincerely,
Tricia
