Almost Winners and a Heart Block

We do have winners in our last quilt along drawing!  But I am not going to be able to post them until this afternoon.  Sorry.  Grabbing pictures off flickr always takes longer than I think it should!

I did want to share this with you though --

Someone's comment to my post about Jovita's babies reminded me of a something we do in one of my guilds.  I designed a paper pieced heart block.  When someone has a tragedy in the family, we each make a heart block for her.

I thought some of you might want to do this for Jovita.  I took my scraps from my quilt along blocks.  If you would like to participate, it would be fun to do the same.  It will be completely scrappy, but sometimes that's how we like quilts!  I wanted to make Jovita a small quilt with the heart blocks alternating with a nine patch.  You can make a heart block, or a nine patch block or one of each.  Here are my blocks.

The blocks finish 6" so right now they measure 6 1/2."

Be sure to click "none" on scaling when you print it so it measures 6 1/2" from the outside lines.  Feel free to use this block for any non-profit uses.

The nine patch block is made from 4 - 2 1/2" background squares and 5 - 2 1/2" color squares.

I don't want to drag this out, but I want to give those overseas time to get me a block if they want.  I also better get my taxes done.  So the deadline to get me blocks will be:
APRIL 15th!

If you would like to be part of this quilt for Jovita, mail your block(s) to me at Konda Luckau, 665 E 400 S, Payson, UT 84651 USA.  I need them by April 15th.

Gotta run!  We have lots of winners that will be posted this afternoon!  Thanks!

Wonderful idea! Just finished my 9-patch and starting my heart. It is so nice to be able to do a little bit to let her know we are thinking of her.

I tried really hard to have my quilt top finished in time, but didn't quite make it! I really love the blocks with the borders and hope to finish it this weekend. I do thank you so much for a wonderful quilt along and congrats to all those who made the deadline. It is wonderful to look at the pictures on the Flickr site!

What a great and thoughtful idea -- count me in! I will get right on this and get them in. Should we put these blocks on the Flikr page? It would be fun to see what everyone comes up with.

I' m in also. What a thoughtful idea. I actually have a 9 patch heart i make for a label sometimes. Will make a block to send.

This was my 1st quilt along and it was a very positive experience. Sorry i missed the layer cake and jelly roll, but have printed to make later. Will definitely use some of these stars again. Love having a deadline. The flickr pictures are very inspiring too. Thanks to you and all the other designers.

I don't know how I missed this post. I was just looking at the blocks throught the flicker group and saw the blocks, and clicked on Lesley's link to your post. It is too late to send my block now, but I would have if I hadn't missed the deadline. I want to chime in and take this time to thank you as well. I really enjoyed the quilt along and appreciated all the designers word and your efforts.
