So I'm in the middle of putting a new book together for spring market. The first draft of the book is done. Quilts are being made. Patterns are being tested. Patterns have already started being revised.
I am going back and forth on one of the quilts, and thought I would ask your opinion. This quilt is made with Birch Organic Fabrics. The line is Circa 60 Beach Mod. I am putting them together with solids. There will be two colors of solids, white and one other one. The problem is I can't decide! I keep changing my mind.
The two options are rust
or mustard.
What do you think? Rust or Mustard?
I see the rust and I am in love with the rust, but then I see the mustard yellow, and I really like that option too. Both look good, so what do YOU think????

I would so go with the rust. It is a different look and it really makes the block pop.
I vote for Rust. The mustard looks more washed out and I like strong colors better. Just my 2 cents though - I believe the end result will look good in both colors. Good luck with your decision!
Rust!
Depends on if you to pop or blend. Pop = Rust Blend = Mustard.
I like the Rust.

Wow...I'm a rust lover too.
Okay I am different! I liked the mustard ;o)
Rust, rust!! It's beautiful!
I like the rust - gives it more warmth and I think the mustard kind of washes the colors out.
I am a fan of the rust. It seems to contrast nicely with all the colors, where the mustard seems to blend more.
Wow, that is a hard choice! Initially, I thought the mustard is just... wow, such a good contrast but on a second glance the rust just calls out to me!! Then again I am an orange fan so both colors work but I lean towards rust.
RUST
The rust is almost too staid and the mustard alost too overwhelming yet they both complement the fabrics. I would use both together in some way. Either mustard to highlight and then rust to calm it down and set it off a bit. My vote is both!
MUSTARD, ITS HAPPIER
I am a fan of the RUST.
I'd use the rust - it makes the other colors stand out more than the mustard.
Rust. Mustard looks like "dirty" yellow but that is just one of my quirks! Happy quilting.
I vote mustard or even a gray... For some reason I don't like rust and pure white together? Good luck!
Rust
wow, i am surprised that so many like rust. i do like rust, but i like that the yellow is bright. good luck with that!
Mustard!
I'm a "rust" vote, too.
Like the rust.
I vote rust.
The rust gives more contrast but, personally, the mustard is -very- pretty.
I vote for the Rust also...looks richer, more contrast and I'm a contrast kind of girl, LOL.
Rust!
I vote for the rusk, I love it!

Definitely rust!
Since the rust would be more predictable, I'd choose the mustard.
Since we are talking photograpy....rust! There is more contrast using the rust. Mustard is a beautiful color but in my experience it doesn't photograph well and washes out in photos.
I would go with the rust, it's warm, comforting, goes well as a contrast and to tell you the truth... if I saw the pattern with the mustard colour I'd just flick past it.
Good luck
rust
I like contrast so I'd choose rust.
Definitely the rust!
Mustard!
Mustard :-)
Rust. I think it makes the block pop.
for a beachy quilt I like the mustard, brighter beachier color. The rust is very pretty but looks a little dark to me for a beachy quilt. But really both are beautiful!!!
Rust. More contrast and the pretty colors really show off on the darker color.
Rust....
I vote for the rust. It makes the other colors pop so well.
Hi!
The mustard will make the quilt happy, which would go with the fabric, but I think it will take over the quilt unless you add it in small amounts, ie: thin strips, small pieces, etc
The rust gives it a more calming, subdued look, but I hate fall, I associate all the fall colours with all the plants, trees, flowers, etc dieing.
So maybe to help you decide, think about the look would you like...
Take care, Leslie
I like the rust, it's a sharper contrast that the mustard.
Rust!!
I like the rust. Never been a fan of mustard - the color or the condiment.
mustard is my vote.
I'm a rust kind of gal. The mustard is happy & bright, but I love the darker tone of the rust and how it picks out the images & colors on the contrasting fabric.
Yaay on another book! Your books are amazing!
Could you do two side strips of mustard and top and bottom rust? If I had to choose one I'd pick the rust.
RUST
Rust! Mustard is nice, but rust is just more... traditional & timeless & quilty.
Rust, definitely! Hugs!
I'd be tempted to use the rust and the mustard and skip the white - but that's just me. :-) Looking forward to seeing your final choice. LH
I vote rust! But whatever you do will look great!

I must agree and hope my suggestion puts it over the top. I vote for RUST!
Rust please.
I think the rust. The mustard in the quilt already pops all by itself, and you don't want overkill in the quilt. Some people will want just a little pop. Where others who want that yikes wowza, they will see the mustard yellow in the quilt and make the change themselves. I certainly prefer the rust with a little pop.
It has to be RUST it makes your other colors POP right out. Seems like RUST is the favorite from all comments.
I like mustard. Besides, mustard is high on the designer list this year. Either will work well.
Rust - hands down
I really like the rust
I vote for the rust, it has a bit more zing. Good luck with your decision.
RUST!!!
the mustard blends nicely but the rust is outstanding
