This is a special quilt that I am linking up to the Bloggers' Quilt Festival at Amy's Creative Side.
This quilt is made from the scraps of several quilters who participated in my Fat Quarter Stars Quilt Along. I just finished putting it together. It is a gift for Jovita. She is one of the block designers. As she was designing her block she found out that she was expecting twins. At the end of the quilt along, she lost them both. More of the story is HERE and HERE.
The quilt is about 52" square. I received exactly 34 squares. Adding in my 2, that gave me 36 blocks. Perfect! This is the perfect example of a scrap quilt. The blocks do not match each other. Each of us used the scraps from our own quilt. I was worried I would need to sash it to tie the blocks together, but I didn't. I just tried to balance the lighter blocks and the darker blocks. I love the way it turned out! I used wool batting. I can't wait to get it to Jovita.
Which leads me to ask. . . do any of you know Jovita personally? I have the address to her shop that she closed, but since it's closed I don't know if mail would be forwarded. I would love to put the quilt in the mail, and just email her to say that I had send her something.

Konda, you did a wonderful job of sewing the blocks together. And how thoughtful to put the names on the back. It is so wonderful that Jovita will have a little something from the Fat Quarters group. The quilt is beautiful.

The quilt turned out beautiful. Lately I had been wondering what you would do with all the different blocks you must have received. I don't think I ever imagined that it would turn out so nicely. You did a fabulous job of balancing everything.
What a truly lovely quilt and I am sure it will be treasured for years and hoping it'll bring comfort as well. Quilts made with that much thoughtfullness and kindness and love are truly perfect.
Konda, that turned out beautifully! This was such a lovely idea, and I'm so glad that I could be a part of it. I was reading Jovita's blog today, and wondered about the blocks. What a nice surprise to see that you've put them together in this way. I know that Jovita will be very moved.

Konda, the quilt is beautiful. So glad you gave me the opportunity to participate. I sent Jovita an individual block about 6 weeks ago to this address, she responded to me that she recieved it. May be the same one you have.

Konda, what a wonderful idea to make a quilt for Jovita. My heart and soul have been broken since I heard she lost her twins.
Thanks for showing this! I contributed the blocks using the pinks/purples and it's a real kick seeing them in the quilt.
