**For anyone just joining us, welcome! Come and play! Grab a jelly roll and play catch up. Let me clarify a little upfront:
1) There isn't an email list to remind you when the blocks are available. You can sign up to be notified when my blog is updated. I have posted instructions HERE.
2) All you need to do now is make your block and post it onto our Flickr group HERE. If you need help, try THIS post.
3) You can always check this post for the new blocks, but they are first listed as a post on my blog, then I add that link at the bottom of this post.
I am excited to introduce something that I have had in the works for a little while now:
A Jelly Roll Sampler Quilt Along!
From March 1 to August 2, every other Monday, instructions for a new 12" block will be posted. All of the blocks will be made from jelly roll strips and yardage.
Each block will be designed by a different person. Every two weeks there will be a guest blogger on my blog introducing herself and her block. At the end, you will have made a fun quilt 58" x 72."
Of course, all along the way there will be prizes for those who complete the blocks. Here is a picture of the quilt:
I will fill it in as we go with the blocks that we make.
Here's the nitty gritty:
Fabric Requirements --
1 jelly roll
2 yards background and sashing fabric
1 1/2 yards outer border fabric
2/3 yard binding fabric
3 3/4 yards backing fabric
Grab a jelly roll and some background fabric and let's get started!
The first drawing will be on March 1 when I post the first block. To enter this drawing, comment on this post that you want to join us and what fabric line you are thinking about making it in.
P.S. Scrappy is absolutely fine too. This quilt would make a great stash buster project.
P.P.S. I am making mine out of Attitude Girls by Mary Engelbreit for Moda.
The second drawing will be on March 15 when the first guest blogger posts the second block. Anyone who has made a block and posted it on a flickr site: (http://www.flickr.com/groups/1343277@N20/) will be entered in the drawing.
There will be another drawing each time block instructions are posted. Anyone who posts a picture of a new block since the last drawing will be entered in the next drawing. The block that you post a picture of doesn't have to be just the previous block. It can be for any of the previous blocks that you haven't posted yet.

I love the idea. I keep collecting jelly rolls because they look so beautiful, but I never used them completely. So this will be a mixed quilt with all my left-over stripes.

I think I am going scrappy. Unless I get to my quilt shop first. Wish I still had my Figgy Pudding Jelly!

OK it sounds like a fun project--
now I just need to decide if I will buy a jelly roll or do it scrappy.
Thanks
Regena
This sounds like fun, and the first for me. I'm not even sure what a jelly roll is, so guess I will use some of my large stash.
I would love to try a Jelly roll, I have never bought one or made anything with one. Please consider me...
Oh, gosh -- do I have time to do one more project? What the hay -- I'll try it! I think I'll just do scrappy, too.

Would love to get some practical ideas for using those jelly rolls. Aviary was the first one I bought, and I haven't done anything with it, so that will be my choice. Besides, I'm feeling a bit pastelly right now.
What a great idea and so much fun to have different people design the blocks! Please count me in. Now I need to go get a Jelly Roll. Thanks for the quilt-a-log.

Hello. I just found your blog through Sipiweske Quilt Designs and would love to try my hand at a quilt-a-long. I am a beginner, so this should be a good learning experience for me. Since I don't have a place to buy jelly rolls around here, I will be making my scrappy. Thanks.
Lei
I'm sure I'm over-thinking this, but do I need 2 yards background fabric and 2 yards sashing fabric or does 2 yards do both the background and sashing?
Wow, this sounds like fun. I have many jelly rolls to choose from, so maybe I'll pick the one i have of Oddysea by Momo or maybe Boutique, since I have yardage of that in my shop I could pull from.I might have to consult with a friend to help me decide! FUN!
Anna
Lynn and anyone else wondering,
2 yards is the total of background and sashing.
Thanks!
Konda
Yes, I want to join in. I will be using Hushabye/Tula Pink jelly roll. This sounds so fun . Donna
Hi - just found your blog though railwaycottages. Yes count me in... I have several jelly rolls but also a pack of Tina Givens fabrics too. Oh what to choose!
I tried to resist but I will have to join. I will have to start late as my fabric is in sea freight as I write this. We are hoping to get it very soon and I will find a jelly roll and background fabric and get started. I have a Fall jelly roll which I think I will use.
A little late here, but I'd love to join. Probably will do stash fabrics. Thanks!
Count me in! Mine will be scrappy.
I think I can do this, too. I will say scrappy for my theme - maybe an old tranquility line by Sandy Gervais
Count me in! This sounds like much fun. I will be using "Objects of Desire" by Moda - probably making it bed-size! Thanks!
Celeste
Love jelly roll patterns. I plan on using Aster Manor by 3 Sisters.
I only just heard about this quiltalong on 123stitch and would love to join in. I will have to do scrappy as there is no chance of finding a jelly roll here in New Zealand at short notice.
I am excited to join the party. My jelly roll is Moda’s “All about color” Cozy Quilt Design with pure black background/sashing. I just posted a picture on my NEW blog --> www.craftedangles.com
this is going to be so fun. I can't wait to see all the blocks and quilts. One problem.... which jelly roll to choose
Count me in........not sure what jelly roll I will use. My friend just gave me Rural Jardin or I may pick from my stash and make a red, white and blue one. I haven't got a blog site.........yet
This quilt along sounds like fun.
quiltnqueen@att.net
Count me in, too, please! Sounds like great fun. Not positive which jelly roll but I do have a set of Fig Tree with layer cake, jelly roll and some yardage. Otherwise, scrappy would help work on the stash!

Just want to make sure I get in on the fun!! I have a couple of uncommitted jelly rolls and I'm ready to start!

Hi I'd love to do this quilt. Can't wait to start it. I will be using scraps from my extensive stash.
Looks like a lot of fun. I love these kinds of things!
I can not wait to start on the quilt. I had bought an Indigo jelly roll and never have done anything with it, so, I believe this is a good place to begin. Thanks.
I'd like to try this. Posted your button on my blog last week to remind me! It is Moda that I have, I think Vintage Holiday. Wondered if the patterns would work with 'honey buns'. I recently bought Glace and Winter Song.
Hi,
I would like to join if it is not too late. I am going to the quilt shop tomorrow and see what they have in jelly rolls. My other idea would be using Thimbleberies or Reproductions fabrics, so I have several choices to decide from.
Thank you and I love to see everyone progress and fabric choices.

Oh yes! I want to play! Please include me. Now what fabric do I want to use?! I'll have to run back into the Sweat Shop and see what jelly rolls I have--I've really gotten hooked on charm packs and I only have a couple jelly rolls (I think!). What fun!

OK I am choosing Mary Engelbreit's "The Caroler" by Moda for my fabric! I'm thinking Christmas quilt for next year!
I bought a batik jellyroll before seeing the design today. Do you think it's appropriate? I can sure get some brighter fabric or use stash. Thanks in advance.

I've joined in!! I've added my photo to the Flickr group! Lots of fun!
http://airolgmd.blogspot.com/2010/03/jelly-roll-sampler-quilt-along.html
Posted on blog, too!
Thanks!
I too just found your blog. I would love to join in. I probably will make a scrappy as I do not own a jelly roll! Maybe I can find one.
I signed up a few days ago and put the logo on my blog. I could not read thru 371 names so I am writing again to let you know that I posted the block on the flicker page.
OK, my sister is doing this and it will be fun to do together! I have a jelly roll from Connecting Threads called Jacobean Garden that I will use.
Count me in!!
I am in! I just found this quilt along from Kim's Big Quilting adventure, and love the first block!
janieg,
Batiks would be great! If they are brighter fabrics, black would be great for the sashing. Or if they are darker fabrics, maybe a cream batik would be better.
Marianne,
I haven't seen the rest of the blocks, but I am pretty sure fat quarters will work. After all, you can cut any fat quarter into 2-1/2" strips:)
Ruby,
I don't think the patterns will work for honeybuns -- unless, you wanted to rework each block and make them 6" blocks instead of 12." Ohhh, that sounds like a fun idea for next year!
Oh, I hope it isn't too late to join the quilt along. I think I will make a scrappy. Thanks for consideration.
I don't have a jelly roll YET but will be purchasing one this week! My friend referred me to this blog and I am excited to have some fun making this quilt! Thanks!
Yes, I want to join! I just purchased a jelly roll and can't wait to start.
