**For anyone just joining us, welcome! Come and play! Grab a jelly roll and play catch up. Let me clarify a little upfront:
1) There isn't an email list to remind you when the blocks are available. You can sign up to be notified when my blog is updated. I have posted instructions HERE.
2) All you need to do now is make your block and post it onto our Flickr group HERE. If you need help, try THIS post.
3) You can always check this post for the new blocks, but they are first listed as a post on my blog, then I add that link at the bottom of this post.
I am excited to introduce something that I have had in the works for a little while now:
A Jelly Roll Sampler Quilt Along!
From March 1 to August 2, every other Monday, instructions for a new 12" block will be posted. All of the blocks will be made from jelly roll strips and yardage.
Each block will be designed by a different person. Every two weeks there will be a guest blogger on my blog introducing herself and her block. At the end, you will have made a fun quilt 58" x 72."
Of course, all along the way there will be prizes for those who complete the blocks. Here is a picture of the quilt:
I will fill it in as we go with the blocks that we make.
Here's the nitty gritty:
Fabric Requirements --
1 jelly roll
2 yards background and sashing fabric
1 1/2 yards outer border fabric
2/3 yard binding fabric
3 3/4 yards backing fabric
Grab a jelly roll and some background fabric and let's get started!
The first drawing will be on March 1 when I post the first block. To enter this drawing, comment on this post that you want to join us and what fabric line you are thinking about making it in.
P.S. Scrappy is absolutely fine too. This quilt would make a great stash buster project.
P.P.S. I am making mine out of Attitude Girls by Mary Engelbreit for Moda.
The second drawing will be on March 15 when the first guest blogger posts the second block. Anyone who has made a block and posted it on a flickr site: (http://www.flickr.com/groups/1343277@N20/) will be entered in the drawing.
There will be another drawing each time block instructions are posted. Anyone who posts a picture of a new block since the last drawing will be entered in the next drawing. The block that you post a picture of doesn't have to be just the previous block. It can be for any of the previous blocks that you haven't posted yet.

1 – 200 of 473 Newer› Newest»Oh, I want to do this. Right now, because I am showing so much self control, I think I will make a scrappy blue or red quilt. But, when the time comes, I may go out and purchase something because I am sometimes weak that way. We'll see, but either way, count me in.
This sound like so much fun. I got a jellyroll for Christmas. I'm at work so I don't know the specific line. I can't wait for March now. Yeah
I would like to do this with all of you. I don't own a commercial jelly roll, but will use up some noodles I've swapped in the past...have a whole drawer of them. Now to think of a color scheme....
Shelley
I'm in! I don't know what fabric I'll be using yet though. I'm nervous!
I'd like to play! I have about 10 - 12 jelly rolls...no kidding! I'll have to check them all out and see which one I'd like to use for this quilt along! Thanks for organizing it. (I'm working on a couple of other quilt-alongs, too, so starting in March is good--gives me a little bit of time to get started on these others!)
I will be doing a scrapish one.
Do we get a preview of the guest designers???
Can't wait to join in the fun..now which jelly roll should I use.
I found my Odyesses by MOMO jelly roll and some linen for the background. Yay!
I am in but which jelly roll to use.....
I'm in. Now I just need to go through my stash and decide on which fabric to use. This should be fun.
You can count me in! Don't know which jelly roll yet. Have too many to choose from but then you can never have enough jelly!

I'm gonna try this one. Fairly new to quilting so I am nervous about it. But anyways I am using the silly safari jelly roll for this.
Ooo, how exciting! I will use either Aviary, Hartfield or Portugal...not sure yet. Do you have any hints on contrast? That may help along my decision!
Oh! I can't wait for 3/1 to get here. I haven't been able to decide what to do with my Mary Englebreit jelly roll. Too much fun!
Count me in. I'm not sure which Jelly roll I will use. I just purchase a few of my first ones and I'm not sure which one I will finally unwrap
I'd like to do this as I have tons of fabric to dispose of! LOL
I hope I can keep up, I teach 6th grade and I also suffer from Lupus and Rheumatoid arthritis, so sometimes my energy level is pretty low. But I really want to try. Count me in. Mine will be scrappy, probably of African fabrics.
Hello! I'd like to join this quilt-along too if I may.
I´ll probably have a jelly roll by then although I may rather use tons of the scraps that are overflowing my scrap bucket.
This sounds like fun. I'm going to use a Birdie Jelly Roll. Come on March!
I really, really don't need to join another quilt along, but I would love to do a sampler. I'll try to keep up!
I can hardly resist a quilt-along! :) I'm not sure which line I'll use yet...we'll see.
Congrats on the Moda Bake Shop quilt! I love it! :)

Just got my jelly roll today! I am using Make Life by Sweetwater for Moda. I don't have any background fabric yet. Will we need it in the first block and would you recommend using fabric from the same line or just anything that coordinates?
Please count me in, I'm going to use A Breath of Avignon/American Jane. This sounds like fun.
Neat idea. I'v just finished cutting my scraps in jelly roll, charm, layer cake and nickel-size pieces to do just this sort of thing. Can't wait to get started. Thanks for sharing,
Linda
There is a Prairy Paisley jelly rol in my cupboard. I could not decide for myself what to make of it, so I will leave the designing to you and will join in. Looking forward to this fun :o)
This does sound like a lot of fun... & I just finished saying I need to seriously use up some of my stash I have, so I will make a scrappy quilt - not sure what colours yet, may have to get some other fabrics as well.

I would love to be in this BOM, have severall jellyrolls.. thinking of using the Portugal. Now need some background fabrics... cant wait to start !! thank you
Hi,
I would like to be in this BOM too!
I am in...sounds like fun. I have a jelly roll that I have been wondering what to use it for.
Boy, I don't know if I will be able to wait until Mar 1. This is going to be fun!
To answer the question about the background/sashing fabric --
If you are looking for contrast, sometimes you want to choose a fabric that isn't in the fabric line that you have chosen. For example, the white that I chose is Kona Snow. That obviously isn't in the Attitude Girls fabric line. Some fabric lines will have one or two fabrics that provide good contrast (sometimes light sometimes dark) like the bright pink in Verna. You can look in the fabric line for the background fabric, but don't feel confined to the fabric line.
I am In. I Love your patterns. Thinking of using browns and blues
This sounds like a lot of fun! I think that I will go scrappy, because I discovered that I have waaaay too many FQs!
Oh wow! so glad I found your blog and I am in on doing this quilt along!
I think I am going to use Moda Martinique! Glad you are starting in March :)
Thanks!
if I can't get the Martinique in yardage, I will use Verna :)
I have a collection of Jelly Rolls - I will have to pick just one to star. Can't wait until the first block
I would love to do this too!
I have MANY Jelly Rolls and OODLES of noodle bins, but the front runner at the moment is a bright Rainbow of colors on a black background. How does that sound??
I was trying to resist starting another project, but then this morning I saw that the new Nicey Jane jelly roll is on sale at http://missouriquiltco.com/shop/deal-a-day for $21.95 for today only and I couldn't resist.... so count me in, too!
I have a collection of jelly rolls and I don't know what to do with them. This will be the perfect project! I can't wait.
Add me to the list! I have four jelly rolls sitting here and it would be great to use one of them up on this! I have no idea which one I'll use...guess I'd better figure that out before March 1! Thanks! :0)
hi. i think i might like to join in this too, sounds fun!! just to pick a jelly roll....
Sounds like a lot of fun and spread out enough that I could keep up! Looking forward to see who the guest blocks will be. I think I will be using Verna by Kate Spain or Rouenneries by French General...love both!

I am so excited to try this quilt along. This will be my first one! I'll have to go looking for a fun jelly roll that I can use for this very thing! Nothing like a good excuse to buy more fabric!
I would very much like to play, now to decide which JR to use. I can't wait to get started.

I have several jelly rolls and some extra/leftover strips from some other jelly rolls.
I will play along. Mine will be scrappy. I need the stash busting.

I blogged about this too. I hope you don't mind.
I've always wanted to make something from a jellyroll, could never pick out a pattern! Thanks for doing it for me!!! Linked to you from another link from quiltedcupcake. I've made a few quilt projects but I still consider myself a newbie. Can't wait!

Yes, I am, of course, happy for you to blog about our Jelly Roll Sampler Quilt Along. The more the merrier!
I am often asked about linking without code and other such blog technical questions so I decided to make it a post of it's own. Check out my new post "Blogger 101."
Any other questions, feel free to ask.

I keep looking at all the lovely combinations, but I have promised myself to do some serious stash busting this year so I haven't bought one yet. I'm not sure if I will purchase one or use strips from my stash. Either way, I'm eager to play.
This sounds like so much fun!!
I don't have any jelly rolls myself, but my DH purchased one about a year ago in Tennessee (or was it Virginia?) that is black/white/red.
Hmmm.... maybe I'll have him make a quilt using his jelly roll & I'll make one with scraps from my stash? That sounds fun, doesn't it?
My colors will probably be yellow/red/green since that will go with my living room colors.
OK I'm in! Now to pick my jelly roll (I have a stack of them LOL) and coordinating fabrics. Oh this is gonna be fun :)
Sounds like a plan!

Just found the button on someone's blog and I think it is a great idea. I have a roll of Autumn Journey by Kansas Troubles (Moda) that has been lying around for a few years I think!
Doing a shopping trip tomorrow to a shop that is closing down (bad news) but is offering 40% off (good news)so I will hopefully pick up the co-ordinating fabrics. Seriously though, too many of our lovely Melbourne shops seem to be closing down. Bring on March 1st!
Looking forward to following along. Sorry no blog to display the button. Joanne H
Please include me in this project. Sounds like fun.
Sign me up! I have several jelly rolls sitting in my stash that I haven't been able to decide on a project for, so I think this is a great opportunity for me to bust a little stash! I'm thinking of using a Spring Fever jelly roll, in hopes of brightening up as winter ends!

I'm in! I'd have to choose between one of the 2 jelly rolls I already have: Portugal by April Cornell or Aviary by 3 Sisters. Of course, I'd be willing to buy another specifically for this project ;-) Konda, can you guess whether the sampler will look better with muted shades or bold ones? Thanks.
I'm in. I went home last night and narrowed it down to the Prairie Paisley jelly roll. Now to go through my stash and get my background and border.
Suzanna,
Either one of those jelly rolls
would be great. The sampler will look good with either muted shades or bold ones. The difference is just personal preference. Pick the one you feel drawn to right now.
I am going to LOVE seeing all the different blocks variations. I think this is a hard one to get wrong.
Konda
Thanks for the advice, Konda. I'll see where my hear takes me.

I love mystery quilts. This is even better because we get to simplify the cutting with a jelly roll. I can hardly wait. My fabric is aviary.
How exciting. Mine will be scrappy. A friend and I did a jelly roll strip swap last year... Can't wait.
Let's see... I've grabbed a button, now the jelly roll part ... hmmm.... I have jelly rolls - boy do I have jelly rolls! The decision now as to which one to use ... definitely want to use a light background for my sampler. So that should make choosing a jelly roll easier. Like I said it should!
Oh! I need to join! I have several jelly rolls so not sure which one I will choose but am excited to get started! Great idea!
I would love to join in. i will be doing a scrappy quilt.
No jelly rolls here so I will make a scrappy quilt.
This sounds like fun!
I just found your blog through the "p.s. i quilt" quilt along. I would like to join this quilt along, too. Thanks! I think I may use a jelly roll by Fig Tree Quilts.
Count me in.
I love quilt-a-longs. I don't seem to feel quite so overwhelmed!!
Thanks,
Kristin
